Fact find software

Collect the fact find before the meeting, and keep it current after

A branded pre-meeting form for new enquiries, six financial position dashboards for every client, questionnaires with comments, and a portal where clients add their own details between reviews.

Three ways in

Who fills the fact find in, and when

A fact find goes stale the day after it is completed unless someone keeps adding to it. Souffle gives three people a way to do that.

  1. Before the first meeting, by the prospective client

New enquiries complete a branded onboarding form carrying your colours, logo, welcome and thank-you messages. Pre-meeting configuration decides which sections are visible and which are required — personal details, assets, income, liabilities, expenses, protection policies, goals and objectives — and the lead record shows a completion percentage as the answers arrive. The lead's financials are held in the same shape as a client's, so converting the lead does not restart the fact find.

  2. In the meeting and after it, by the practice

Assets, income, expenses, liabilities, goals and objectives, and protection each have their own dashboard and printable report on the client record, with a consolidated financial dashboard across all six. A financial position carries a position date, so the practice can see when the picture was last confirmed rather than assume it is current.

  3. Between reviews, by the client

Clients sign in to a portal in your brand, see their financial position as graphs and cards, and add their own entries against each area. Questionnaires issued by the adviser are completed there, with the client's comments recorded alongside the adviser's, so the conversation about an answer stays with the answer.

What it holds

Eight parts of a client's picture

Each area has its own dashboard and printable report, so the review pack is built from the record rather than rebuilt for the meeting.

Assets
Value, ownership and income and growth rates on investment holdings, with total asset value and total asset value under adviser rolled up on the position.
Income
Gross and net income totals across sources, with a dashboard and report per client.
Expenses
Line-by-line entry, plus a simplified view for clients who do not want the detail.
Liabilities
Total liability value on the position, with its own dashboard and report.
Goals and objectives
Amount, category, outcome, owner, priority, timeframe and progress as a value and a percentage, with goals nested under a parent goal where needed.
Protection
Cover types, provider, policy number, premium amount, frequency and type, ownership across individual, partner or entity, and how the adviser is remunerated.
Identification
Document type, number and issuer, place of issue, issue and expiry dates, verification method and verified status, tax identification number and residency.
Entities
An SMSF, trust, company or partnership connected to the client keeps its own financial position, so the household picture and the structure's picture are not mixed.

Stated plainly

What the fact find does not do

These are the things a digital fact find is sometimes assumed to include. Souffle does not do them today.

  • No open banking or bank-statement import; income and expenses are entered by the practice or the client, or collected through the form

  • No automatic risk-tolerance scoring; the questionnaire builder can issue a risk questionnaire, and the adviser records the investor profile that results

  • No identity verification service; identification documents are recorded and attached, not checked against a data source

  • Signatures are drawn on screen, not certified by a third-party e-signature provider

  • No platform data feeds; holdings are what has been recorded, not a live valuation

The software evaluation checklist has the questions to ask any vendor about data capture, including this one.

Questions about the fact find

Can clients complete the fact find online before the first meeting?

Yes. The branded onboarding form collects personal details, assets, income, liabilities, expenses, protection and goals from a prospective client before the meeting. Your practice chooses which sections are shown and which are required, and the lead record shows how much has been completed.

Does the information carry over when a lead becomes a client?

Yes. A lead's assets, income, liabilities, expenses, goals, protection and questionnaires are held in the same shape as a client's, so converting the lead keeps what was collected rather than starting the fact find again.

Can clients update their own details later?

Yes. In the client portal, clients can add their own entries against assets, income, expenses, liabilities, goals and protection, and complete questionnaires the adviser issues. The practice reviews what has arrived when preparing the next conversation.

Does Souffle connect to bank accounts to pre-fill the fact find?

No. There is no open banking or statement import. Figures come from the onboarding form, the practice's own entry or the client's entries in the portal.

Is the fact find a compliant fact find for my licensee?

Souffle records what your practice chooses to collect; it does not decide what your licensee requires you to collect. Configure the visible and required sections and the questionnaire templates to match your licensee's fact find, and confirm the result with your compliance team.

We will show the onboarding form as a prospective client sees it, the record as your practice sees it, and the portal as a client keeps it current.
